| Jodhpur - the city |

Jodhpur is known as the blue city of Rajasthan and is situated within a desert environment and the largest state in India. Homes were originally painted in blue by high caste Hindus and the view from the Mehrangarh Fort gives the feeling that the city below is a living, breathing, pulsating Impressionist painting. |

Colourful, vibrant, everything that a market should be and more! Bangle sellers vie with cauliflowers, aubergines chillies and clementines in a breathtaking fusion of smell, colour and texture. |

Away from the hum of the city, an army of workers - male and female- prepare fabrics for production. Freshly dyed, they dry in the white heat of the village street. Tie dye experts, superbly skilled embroiderers and silk screen printers come together to ensure the finishing factory receives the best. |

While the men sit at the sewing machines, the ladies sit on the floor in a circle embroidering the fabrics; it is harmonious and industrious. Back room staff busy themselves working long hours together as one happy extended family. |
